Electric shavers typically include their own protective caps, storage pouches and cleaning brushes. A sideburn and moustache trimmer is usually built-in as a flip-up feature, and some models have an added long hair trimmer to cope with every eventuality. More expensive models also have variable speed settings to allow for those with more sensitive skin. Even ladies’ battery operated units can be wet/dry compatible and are available in waterproof cases, so if the unit falls in the bathtub there’s no need to worry about damaging the shaver or getting a shock.

Colours range from coolskin blue to two-tone affairs and neon effects. Men’s models tend to favour rich blues, greens and silvers, while designs for women lean toward pastel shades and lighter tones.
