Are you looking for something to wear on that holiday abroad? Or do you want some simple separates to spice up your spring collection?
T-shirts come in any size (or one size fits all) and every colour imaginable. Whether you prefer white, black, green and brown khaki, soft pastels or bolder primary colours, there’s a style to suit every taste and personality. Or you could opt for a duotone which features contrasting colours on the neck and sleeves.
Most t-shirts are made from cotton, polyester or a combination of the two, although some synthetic fabrics are used in the more unusual designs. Options include short sleeve, long sleeve or sleeveless, with a round or square neck.
Your t-shirt can be plain or printed with text, graphics, a bit of both, or even with your favourite cartoon character. Plain t-shirts can also be worn under blouses, shirts or jackets in the colder weather, while printed styles are available in a variety of striped and floral patterns.
Many companies will let you design your own t-shirts online and in the high street. You can have your own text and pictures on the t-shirt of your choice, and even have it printed front and back if you wish. You should be aware, though, that it usually costs more to have printing on both sides of the shirt. Make sure you see a sample first to check that the designs won’t fade when the shirt has been washed a few times.
Variations include the banded bottom with optional wide neck, tapered sleeves or wavy seams. Some t-shirts are made with a layered effect, combining two different fabrics and colours to give the shirt that little something extra. You can also purchase extra long t-shirts, ideal for that casual look on the beach or at the barbecue, the distressed look so no one will know your shirt is brand new, lined mesh designs to wear on those hot, humid days and see-through or lattice effects, perfect to throw on over your bikini top when you’re ready to come in out of the sun.
Most holiday resorts sell t-shirts to advertise the country or region you’re visiting. Why not go one better and take your own holiday photos with your digital camera, and have them transferred onto a t-shirt of your choice when you get back home? Since you’ll be wearing your family photos, there’ll be one less thing to have to carry around.
