Sony Ericsson is a mobile phone manufacturer that makes its own specialist range of handsets, each one purposely made to satisfy its customers’ particular tastes and interests. To make it easier for you to remember, they’ve included letters in the names of the phones that correspond to the specialist tasks they perform, such as W for Walkman, K for camera (almost works) and V for Video.
The W800i is known as the Sony Ericsson Walkman TM phone. As the name implies, it’s a phone and a Walkman in one, with a 512MB memory card that gives you access to store and listen to over 150 tracks. But just in case you get bored with your tunes, they’ve also included a 2 mega pixel camera with auto focus facility and the potential for Bluetooth connectivity.
If imaging is what gets you going, you can purchase the K750i which has controls similar to those you’d find on a stand alone digital camera. Perfect for all your pictures and video, it comes with image editing PC software and lets you create photo albums, add effects to your snaps and send them to your friends in emails. This model also incorporates a fully featured digital music player, so you can listen to your favourite tracks while you shoot.
The V600i focuses on the video side and video calling in particular. It also has a 1.3 mega pixel camera and built-in FM radio, and offers the ability to download all the latest music, film and sport coverage from Vodaphone live!
As part of the Sony conglomerate, it’s not surprising that a Walkman would make its way into the telephone technology. The advent of 3G multimedia capabilities has led to the development of Sony Ericsson’s W900i, its latest 3G Walkman phone. This model is a music player like the 800i but with the added bonus of being able to connect to the 3G network services for access to news and sports information. You can also download songs directly to your phone more quickly and easier than before.
If you’re a fan of the Walkman you’ll appreciate Sony Ericsson’s attempts to integrate this technology into its mobile phone range. If you just want a mobile phone that comes with all the must-have features for voice, text, camera and email, then there are less expensive models that do more and still others that do everything in the same price range.
